Common Brake System Issues
Brake Adjuster Issues
Your brake adjusters are designed to automatically take up slack as your brake pads wear down. Although they’re generally quite durable, they can come out of alignment and fail to adequately take up the slack. If this happens, you’ll likely notice that it takes longer to brake, for your air system has to push your pushrod significantly farther before it can activate your drum brakes.
Air Dryer Failure
The compressed air that activates your brakes goes through an air dryer before it actually enters your brake system. If your air dryer fails or malfunctions, the moisture won’t be removed from your system. This makes your brakes less effective, causes excessive wear and tear, and may even cause critical air leaks. If you’re having this problem, be sure to give us a call and set up an appointment.
